Courses and Learning Materials

Successful courses at WEA and the Migrant Resource Centre have been held over the past year, and a Term 2 course has been advertised at WEA. Unfortunately, due to the business of the teacher, this course has had to be cancelled. There are plans for a possible course in Term 4, so please let us know if you are interested in learning Esperanto. In addition, free informal lessons are held at our regular meetings (see Contact page). Private tuition is offered in Esperanto by Jonathan Moylan. For more information, please visit http://servaro.110mb.com/.

If you would like to learn Esperanto by yourself, we have a range of learning materials available which we can lend to you, or you can buy the popular "Teach Yourself Esperanto" by John Cresswell and John Hartley for AU$31.35 (price variable, set by the Libroservo in Sydney at Esperanto House).

However, there are many internet Esperanto courses available. We teach an internet course through Projekto NESTO, using kurso.exe. There are also very good courses at http://www.lernu.net/ and http://www.edukado.net/.

If you would like to do a correspondence course by post, contact the Correspondence Courses of AEA.

The Universal Esperanto Association, with offices in Rotterdam, New York and Togo, is the worldwide Esperanto organisation. Each continent has a UEA commission, and Australia is part of the Oceania Commission of UEA. The Australian Esperanto Association, with an Esperanto House in Sydney (143 Lawson St, Redern, 9319 4775), governs the Australian Esperanto movement. The Esperanto Federation of NSW, also based in Esperanto House, governs the five Esperanto organisations in NSW. There are local Esperanto groups in Adelaide, the Bega Valley, Brisbane, Canberra, the Central Coast, the Gold Coast, Manly, Melbourne, Newcastle, Oakleigh, Perth, Sydney, Toowoomba, and Warwick. For information about any of these groups, please write to us at newcastle@esperanto.org.au. If you live in another area, please let us know, or contact the Correspondence Courses of AEA. The Newcastle Esperanto Society's members live as far away as Wyong in the South and Singleton in the west.
