=============NOVKASTELA ESPERANTA SOCIETO=========
==============Newsletter Edition 5: September 2002==========

Dear Esperantists,

We have a lot of exciting things happening in our local Esperanto
"ondo" (wave), and we are busy preparing for future events!

This newsletter is sent out to fifteen people each month. It is still
in English, but may be freely translated. Our newsletters are published
in the Telopeo every month, and a short history of the Association will be
published in Telopeo soon.

Our website, http://www.esperanto.org.au/newcastle.html, although it
takes a while to become updated, does have a copy of our newsletters
also.

We are gathering a lot of notice from Novocastrians who didn't know about
Esperanto, but are willing to learn!

Coming events:
Next meeting: Saturday, 5th October at 3pm at the Newcastle EcoHome
67a Hobart Rd. New Lambton 2305 (diagonally opposite West's). This will
be in preparation for our course the following Saturday; we will be having
a full preparation run-through of the course! Please remark that this is during
the school holidays.

Visiting Esperantist: Originally Novocastrian Esperantist Janet Rawling
speaks to the Baha'i. She has come from Germany, and has won many
prizes for her Esperanto poetry. Saturday, 7th September at 11am-1pm and
2pm-4pm at the Migrant Resource Centre, Hamilton, as advertised in the
University email list. Contact Tom Jones on 4943 2444 for more information.

EcoHome (same as for meeting). We are hoping for around 15 people.

Association News:
On Saturday, 31st August, we had our monthly meeting at the EcoHome.
Again it was only 2 of us, but we did a lot more practical organisation for
the October Course. We decided that if the first Sunday of the month
was the 1st, our meeting would be held the day before i.e. the last Saturday
of the preceding month. To save confusion, I'll just say that the meetings
will be on the first Saturday of each month unless otherwise stated.

I have received from the local Spiritual Assembly of the Baha'i an invitation
to Janet's talk. She has a very impressive history, graduating with honours
in German from Newcastle University and commencing a successful
linguistic career in Germany as well as being very prominent in her faith.
She is a very prominent Esperantist, and should have interesting things
to say about the Esperanto wave in Europe and China.

We still haven't found Mrs. James, and would love to hear from her
if anyone knows who she is, or anyone else in the Hunter area who
speaks Esperanto.

Please feel free to contribute any news for our newsletter by sending
it to me. We are very busy, and are quite willing to get busier!

G^is baldaux (until soon),

Jonathan Moylan
