Karaj gesamideanoj,

Jen la Oktobra novajxletero; frua post la pasinta novajxletero sed,
nu, ni mallongigos cxi tiun. Vi ricevos raporton pri cxiu sesio de la
kurso cxi tiun monaton (se vi ne deziras ricevi tion, bv. kontakti
min).

Kelkaj korektigoj al la pasinta novajxletero:
1. La lasta novajxletero estis tiu por Septembro, kaj mi erare tajpis
Auxguston.
2. Mi tajpis pli rapide ol mi pensis kiam mi skribis pri la Zamenhofa
Projekto. La projekto celas homojn kiuj lernas la ANGLAN lingvon
ekde 3 jaroj KAJ jam konas esperantistojn, kaj sciigas ilin pri
Esperanto. Tiumaniere, la projekto ne dissendus spamajxon.

Okazontoj:
Esperanto kurseto: Sabato, 11a Oktobro je la 3a ptm cxe la Novkastelo Ekologia
Hejmo (adreso super).
Dua sesio: Dimancxo 19a Oktobro je la 3a ptm cxe la PAN konstraujxo en Auckland
Str., Novkastelo-centro. Cxi tiu sesio estos parto de la "Fiesta" kultura festo.
Tria sesio: Sabato 1a Novembro je la 3a ptm cxe la Novkastela Ekologia Hejmo
kiel parto de nia cxiumonata kunveno.

Ni havas registrilojn haveblajn, nur petu al ni. La
kosto estas $5. Nepre pagu frue. Se vi jam havas registrilon kaj ne
jam pagis, pagu frue. La $5 estas validaj por cxiuj sesioj, sed ne nepras
veni al cxiu sesio. La gastinstruonto por la unua sesio estos Franciska
Toubale de Melburno. La sesio cxe "Fiesta" estos senpaga cxar "Fiesta"
estas senpaga festo, sed ni akceptas donacojn (evidente!)

Venonta kunveno: Sabato, 1a Novembro je la 3a ptm cxe la Novkastelo
Ekologia Hejmo (Newcastle EcoHome), 67a Hobart Rd. New Lambton 2305
(diagonale kontraux "West's"). Cxi tiu kunveno estos parto de la kurso.
Se vi volas veni, bonvolu konsili min pere de retposxto aux alia

Zamenhof-tago: Sabato, 13a Novembro cxe la Esperanto-Domo en Sidnejo,
143 Lawson St. Redfern 2016.  Ni ne jam scias cxu ni iros kiel grupo
al Sidnejo, sed cxiu estas bonvenota.

Societaj novajxoj:
Je Sabato, Oktobro 4a nia cxiumonata kunveno okazis. Andrew
kaj Jonathan cxe-estis kaj ni preparis por la kurso. Oktobro 4a
estis ankaux la tutmonda Ago-tago de Esperanto. Ni faris
afisxojn por la kurso kaj faris pretenda kurso. Estas bonsxance
ke Franciska venos helpi!!!

Je Vendredo, la 3a Oktobro mi estis telefonvokata per unu el la
redaktistoj de la "Newcastle Herald", la cxefa novajxpapero en
Novkastelo (kaj la plej bone vendata novajxpapero en Auxstralio
krom tiuj de la cxefurboj). La redaktisto ricevis komunikil-elsendon
de mi pri la kurso kaj li presos anoncon en la novajxpapero (en
la dua pagxo de la "Weekender", por tiuj, kiuj legas gxin), kaj
ankaux presos artikolon (en la tria pagxo de la "Weekender") pri
mia esperanto-agado. Li sendis fotografiston por fotumi min je
Sabato mateno (la 4a) kaj espereble la anonco kaj la raporto
allogos homojn al la kurso. Gxi ankaux estis bona agado por
Ago-tago.

Por la okazontaj kunvenoj:
La Novembra kunveno estos parto de la kurso (cxiu parte instruos)
La Decembra kunveno ni penos allogi lernintojn por dauxri lerni.
Se vi deziras ankaux havi la liston da libroj kiun ni havas (per .xls), simple skribu al mi.

Novajxoj el Esperantio:
Aktiva esperantisto Harold Patterson forpasis jxauxdon la 25an de
Septembro. S-ro Patterson estis vigla membro de la estinta
Esperanto-grupo en Foster. "Harold estis gxentila ege afabla viro,"
diris Terry Manley, redaktanto de Telopeo. "Mi bedauxras lerni ke
li ne plu estas kun ni sed certas ke tia homo ja atingos felicxegon."
Informis min pri lia morto Bill kaj Betty Aulsebrook, aktivaj membroj
de nia grupo en Bateau Bay. Ges-roj Aulsebrook konis S-ro Patterson
de la grupo en Foster.

Fine de septembro, Giorgio Pagano, responsulo de Itala Radikala Partio
pri 'Kampanjo pri rajto je lingvo kaj je Internacia lingvo' kaj Sekretario
de Esperanto Radikala Asocio (ERA), komencis fastadon.

BRUSELO 2003-10-06. La celo de la fasto estas devigi la italan
Ministron pri instruado, Letizia Moratti, plenumigxu iniciatoj
interkonsentitaj kun la Radikala partio. "Unuavice temas pri
kunvoko de 'Euxropa konferenco pri lingvoj' dum la itala jarduona
prezidanteco en Euxropa Unio," klarigas gazetara komuniko de
ERA. "Tio estas celo pri kiu konsentas cxiuj ajn kiuj zorgas pri
lingva komunikado en Euxropo jam 20-lingva, sendepende de
diverseco en la prisolva opiniaro. Bedauxrinde, tri monatojn post

de tiu konferenco estas nenia spuro." ERA lancxis kampanjon por

subtenis kaj helpis agadojn de esperantistoj por la promocio de
Esperanto (i.a. Euxroscola, kampanjo de 2004 al la politikistoj...). "La
monopolo de la angla estas bona nek por Euxropo nek por Britio, kies
lingvo farigxos disdialektigxinta lingvo," avertas Caudron.

===========ENGLISH TRANSLATION===========
Here's the October newsletter; a bit early after the last newsletter,
but we'll just shorten this one. You will receive a report about
every session of the course this month (if you don't want to receive
that, please contact me).

A couple of corrections to the last newsletter:
1. The last newsletter was for September, and I accidently typed
August.
2. I typed faster than I was thinking when I wrote about the Zamenhof
Project. The project is aimed at people who've learnt ENGLISH
for at least 3 years AND already know esperantists, and lets them
know about Esperanto. That way, the project wouldn't be sending out
spam.

Coming events:
Esperanto course: Saturday, 11th October at 3pm at the Newcastle
EcoHome (address above).
Second session: Sunday 19th October at 3pm in the PAN building,
Auckland St, Newcastle. This session will be part of the Fiesta
cultural festival.
Third session: Saturday 1st November at 3pm at the Newcastle
EcoHome as part of our monthly meeting.

We have registration forms available, just ask us. The cost will be
$5. Please pay as soon as possible. If you already have a form
and you haven't paid already, pay now. The $5 registration is
valid for all sessions, but you don't have to come to all sessions.
The guest teacher for the first session will be Franciska Toubale
from Melbourne. The session at Fiesta will be free because
Fiesta is a free festival, but we will (of course) accept donations.

Next meeting: Saturday, 1st November at 3pm at the Newcastle
EcoHome (67a Hobart Rd. New Lambton 2305, diagonally opposite
West's). This meeting will be part of the course. If you want
to come, please let me know by emailing me or otherwise. All
welcome!

Zamenhof day: Saturday, 13th November at the Esperanto-House in
Sydney, 143 Lawson St. Redfern 2016. We don't yet know whether
we will go as a group to Sydney, but all are welcome.

We have 8 "certain"s for the course, and 5 maybes. One of
the goals of the Multifaith Association for the year is to have
each member learn Esperanto, so we'll certainly have some
people from the Multifaith Association as well.

Society news:
On Saturday, October 4 we held our monthly meeting. Andrew
and Jonathan attended and we prepared for the course.
October 4 was also the international Ago-tago (action day) for
Esperanto. We made signs for the course and held a mock
course. It's a good thing that Franciska's coming to help!!!

On Friday, October 3, I was phoned by one of the editors of the
Newcastle Herald (the main newspaper in Newcastle and the
best-selling newspaper in Australia outside of the capital cities).
The editor received a press release from me about the course
and will print an announcement in the newspaper (on the 2nd
page of the Weekender, for those who read it), and will also
print an article (on the 3rd page of the Weekender) about my
Esperanto action. He sent a photographer to get a picture
on Saturday morning (the 4th) and hopefully the announcement
and the article will attract people to the course. It was also
good for our participation in Ago-tago.

For the coming meetings:
The November meeting will be part of the course (everyone
will help teach)
At the December meeting we'll try to get people from the course
to continue to learn.

News from the world of Esperanto:
Active esperantist Harold Patterson passed away on Thursday
the 25th of September. Mr. Patterson was an active member of
the old Esperanto group in Foster. "Harold was a courteous and very
kind man," said Terry Manley, editor of Telopeo. "I regret to hear
that he is no longer with us but am sure that such a man will
indeed attain happiness."

I was informed of his passing away by Bill and Betty Aulsebrook,
active members of our group in Bateau Bay. Mr. and Mrs. Aulsebrook
knew Mr. Patterson from the group in Foster.

On the 22nd of July Tom Mac Neill Turvey was born in Ballarat. Tom
is the son of Bill and Ruth; the grandson of Edna and the nephew of
Jo and Alan Turvey. - from Telopeo.

At the end of September, Giorgio Pagano, the representative of the
Italian Radical Party for the "Campaign for language rights and
for International language' and Secretary of the Esperanto Radical
Association (ERA), started to fast.

BRUSSELS 2003-10-06. The aim of the fast is to convince the Italian
Education Minister, Letizia Moratti, to fulfil initiatives arranged in
consent with the Radical Party. "Firstly it's about the call for the
'European conference on languages' during the Italian half-yearly
presidency in the European Union," clarifies the press communication
from the ERA. "That is an aim which everyone agreed on who
looks after linguistic communication in Europe (already 20
languages), independently of the diversity of opinions on how
to solve the problem. Unfortunately, three months after the
beginning of that Italian half-yearly European presidency, there
has been no action on the call." ERA has launched a campaign
for people to urgently send - in support of Giorgio Pagano's fast -
a fax or telegram, or write in support on the Internet.

"I most enthusiastically support the growth of cultural diversity in
Europe. And because languages are the primary element of that
diversity, I support linguistic diversity," writes Gérard Caudron in
the fifth edition of his magazine (09/2203). The European Union
parliamentarian published a small article about linguistic diversity
in Europe and Esperanto. "I fear those who campaign for the
growth of languages in fact enforce the monopoly of English.
Therefore we should examine the question about languages,
including by an objective reconsideration of Esperanto."

Caudron, ex-mayor of Villeneuve-d'Ascq and European Union
parliamentarian from the group European United Left, has
repeatedly supported and helped the actions of Esperantsts
for the promotion of Esperanto (inter alia Euroscola, a 2004
campaign to politicians). "The monopoly of English is good for
neither Europe nor Britain, whose language will eventually split into
dialects," warns Caudron.
